ABOUT:
Covert Dirt Camps deliver Mountain Bike skills courses, tuition & guiding services.
In order to appeal to youngsters, our camps have been developed by core grass roots riders. Our image and identity is purposely crafted to appeal to a younger mindset.
Our camps cater for riders ranging from beginner to expert, with emphasis being on skills and fun while increasing rider safety. This is achieved through shorter rides (there are no 30km un-enjoyable slogs!), GO MOUNTAIN BIKE skills sessions and the use of our Covert Obstacle Course.
As well as introducing and extending riding skills, our courses can link many areas across a large spectrum of subjects. We cover everything from nutrition and road safety through to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
Our instructors and coaches hold recognised qualifications from Scottish Mountain Bike Leaders Asscociation/Scottish Cycling in Leadership (SMBLA TCL, MBL.) and we hold Level 5 GO MOUNTAIN BIKE coaching certification through Cycling Scotland.
As a recognised GO MOUNTAIN BIKE provider we are able to deliver nationally recognised proficiency and certification to students who attend our GO MTB courses. For more information on GO MOUNTAIN BIKE Click Here.
Our instructors, eat and sleep their respective riding disciplines and their enthusiasm and relaxed demeanor helps to motivate students. This passion rubs off onto our pupils and we often find they are itching to get out and ride in the real world!
Covert also runs School Camps which are designed for P5 up to 2nd year of High School. During these camps also, we aim to get kids involved, active and share our passion for riding.
Covert has been working with Active Schools coordinators and teachers to develop course content in line with ‘A Curriculum for Excellence’. Through attending our camps children are given opportunities to work collaboratively whilst making links with the outdoor environment. Covert brings the mountain to the school and it is our aim to be able to deliver rich course content which involves getting everyone (staff included!) into the playground to immerse in some riding fun!
For outdoor trail courses our standard instructor to pupil ratio is 1-6. This ensures that everyone can benefit from one to one time with an instructor.
All our instructors go through Advanced Disclosure and certificates are available to review on request. We also have Child Protection (Safeguarding Children) Training.
We carry 3rd Party Liability Insurance, Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance through British Cycling.
Our instructors all hold valid First Aid Certificates
We carry out a full risk assessment of any routes, spaces and trails we use prior to any camps.
